John B. Pruitt, President and founder of
A/E Consulting Services, Inc.

John is a management and financial consultant for architectural, engineering and related professional service firms.  He founded A/E Consulting Services in 1992 to fulfill a need of A/E firms for specialized services that are not available in-house.  John has built a national reputation for developing successful strategic and ownership transition plans.  He is noted for his analytical ability to identify and resolve critical management issues, working with more than 300 leaders of A/E firms across the nation.

John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Design Accountant (CDA) and holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing.   He has been recognized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and awarded for his educational achievement in Business Valuations.

John has assisted over 300 A/E firms on a variety of topics including mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and planning, financial management, government contracting and audit defense and valuations.  He has guided many companies, from startups to firms with over 2,000 employees, in establishing viable strategic and ownership transition plans.

John has presented numerous A/E seminars, workshops and roundtables on strategic planning, valuing A/E firms, ownership transitions, practice management, successful government contracting, financial management, and design-build strategies.   John produces seminars and workshops for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Financial Managers’ Group, SDA, various consulting Engineering Councils, and A/E software companies.  He is also an Associate Editor of the A & E Business Journal and has contributed articles to various A/E trade publications.

Prior to founding A/E Consulting Services, Inc., John served with a national management consulting firm.  He was also the CFO of a large, multi-disciplined A/E firm.  He has held a senior level position with a regional CPA firm and has more than 15 years experience in the professional service industry.  Currently he is an Associate Editor of the A & E Business Journal and a frequent speaker at various seminars and professional conferences.
